Club activity

The North West Amateur Radio Club – M0KKN is active across HF, VHF and UHF bands. Our members regularly operate using both traditional analogue modes and modern digital voice systems.

We focus on practical radio operation, experimentation, and building reliable communication systems. A key part of our work is the development of the ARES project – Amateur Radio Emergency Service, which explores the use of amateur radio for emergency communication, resilience, and field operations.

Project ARES

ARES – Amateur Radio Emergency Service is one of the key projects developed by our club. It focuses on practical emergency communications, field readiness, resilience, and the real-world use of amateur radio during challenging conditions.

Through this project, we explore how radio operators can build dependable local communication capability, test portable stations, improve simplex coverage, and strengthen technical preparedness for unexpected situations.

The project combines training, experimentation, operational discipline and technical development across analogue and digital platforms.
